My Sept. 21 '64 Konv. Kar doesn't have the braces and there are no holes or provisions for any of those braces you are talking about. I have seen a Nov. 15 '64 Kar with them so I assume somewhere in-between those two dates. just adding my 2-cents worth.

I also believe that you can look at things like the holes in the radiator support for the fog light wiring to see if they are punched(factory) or drilled, the holes for the courtesy lights in the doors are punched(factory) or cut, and the metal tags hooked on the seats inside are different than standard seats. There are subtle ways to see if it is real that many "fakers" forget about or don't bother with since they are usually "hidden" from plain view.

    Hey everyone,

I am heading up to Bellevue, WA this weekend for the Northwest Roundup. Is anyone else out there going? I am mostly going just to be part of such a large gathering of Mustangs that is "close" to me...9 hours away. If you are going, I would love to make sure I come by and say "Hi" and admire your Kool Kar.

By the way, no offense to those of you out there who are from the San Francisco Bay area. I know about the great shows down there as well and they are closer to me but seemingly always during school days. I don't think my administration would appreciate me taking some personal days to get a sub just to go to a show. <img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Thanks again for the war welcome! <img src=images/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle> One of the great things about my job is that I have the bulk of car show and fun driving season to enjoy my Kar. I love driving this car after owning several "C" & "A" code cars. This one is in a class by itself and I am hooked for life on the "K's" over the others.

I am interested in making contact with those of you in my "area" of Southern Oregon. If you are interested in hanging out together and talking "shop" about the particular differences in our Kars or sharing valuable info, I would love that.

Thanks again for the warm welcome to the Klub.

    Hey everyone,

I looked through past forum posts before I asked the question and could not find any reference so if I missed it I am sorry.

My question refers to the validity of an original "black-top" coil instead of the mandated Yellow-top variety. I have a 9/21/64 convertible that has an original looking coil albiet black-top. My Kar came from Indiana if that has anything to do with it and is a Dearborn Kar. I have seen an unmolested, original in every way...unrestored and 58K mile 11/64 K-convertible, also from Indiana, with the very same black-top coil. Both coils have the FoMoCo silvery stamp on them.

Is this just an early replacement coil? Vintage upgrade to a hotter coil? Real deal from the factory? Another piece might be that both Kars have dealer installed (not factory) AC and PS.

Any comments or additional info would be greatly appreciated. As a History teacher you can naturally appreciate my need to get the "whole historical picture" on my Kar. I wish my Kar could talk and tell me all the stories it has been a part of.

    Thanks,

    Bryan

Hey everyone tuning in. This is a great group to finally be included in. I always dreamed of owning a "K" but figured that this was going to be impossible for someone who doesn't earn a whole ton...we teachers don't have the best salaries but we sure touch a lot of people with our lives so it all works out in the end right. Anyway, I don't want to get into the teacher thing except to say that I am living the dream by owning a K convertible and driving it, enjoying it and showing it at as many shows as my summer schedule can afford.

I know I will have more questions for the collective wisdom out there but for now, thanks for allowing me to be a part of the Klan of great K owners.
