My kar has a scheduled build date of Jan 11, 1965 and the engine assembly date that is stamped in the boss on the driver's side front of the engine is 5A14B. The engine has the VIN stamped on the passenger side lower front just above the oil pan but is a January 14 assemply date too late for this to be the original engine?

    Rene,

I totally agree! I had to go look at my kar (which has not undergone a major rennovation) and the door sills and the body seam between the door posts looks much better on my kar.

Thanks for the input guys. It sounds like the real decision is whether or not you will be showing in a concourse judged show class and if so you spend the extra money. Since I am not going to be in that class I think I will go for the base system.

    Thanks again!

I am thinking about buying an Arvinode system for my Kar and there is a concourse and a base system being offered. I have read some comments about how satisfied members are with the concourse system and would like to hear from anyone who has installed the base system. The Waldron sales associate I spoke with said that both systems produce the same exhaust sound and performance. Does anyone have any experience they can share?

You never know what the buyer may have planned for the Kar but it sure looks like a lot of work and parts to locate if he plans to take it back to original or near original condition.

    Mark,

I am glad you are happy with the car and I admire your nerve in buying a kar from another country without seeing and driving the car. My 65 coupe is not as nice as yours but it is still a blast to drive and take to local car shows and cruises. I have been cleaning it and repairing a few minor things here and there but otherwise very enjoyable. In trying to document everything, it appears that the drive train is possibly original (the vin# is on the engine and transmission and the rear end is of the right date code). The only major thing to be replaced to take it to original is the carb but I am not interested in replacing it at present. It has a C5ZF that was converted to a manual choke and it seems to run good, so why replace it if I am not going to restore the car for awhile?

    Jack:)

I bought the car the latter part of May and have been cleaning (and enjoying driving) it ever since. There were no pics of the undercarriage because it had been undercoated several years ago (maybe when new) and it is pretty ugly - no bad rust though. It still has original floor pans and the only things that have been replaced are the front fenders. It has the original 9" rear and as far as I can see is pretty much original except for the color change from grey to burgandy. As I mentioned in my previous post under the new member section, everything works except the clock and I have some good ideas now to help resolve that issue. I have yet to spend much time under the kar but will do so when the weather is not so nice - for now I just want to drive.

I am having trouble adding it to the registry and maybe someone can help me with this. I have tried several times, with no luck.
