Are you looking to sell the carb or rebuild it?
Jack
Lokking very good!
Jack
I emailed the seller and asked if the engine and transmission were stamped with the VIN# and also asked if it had a tag on the rear end. He replied "engine is not stamped and a lot of engines built in the plant where the k-code was made were not stamped, same for trans". As for the rear end he replied "what kind of tag on the rear are you looking for" and so I gave him an example and will see if he replies.
I thought that pretty much all K Code engines and transmissions were stamped with the VIN for warranty purposes.

In May, I paid $19k for an unrestored 65 coupe, numbers matching engine & transmission, with correct date coded rear and steering box. The interior is decent but not perfect by any means. I thought it was a fair price and am happy.![]()

Korbi,
Welcome to the forum! It's good to have another coupe owner on board.

Charles, Fred, ZRay, and so many others have been very helpful to me and I really appreciate getting some insight on what a NOS part might cost to help me make an informed decision as to whether to go with a NOS or a reproduction which might pass very well.
Thanks to all of you who choose to post here!

Not too long ago, we saw a listing for a 65 with a blue engine - maybe they should consider a swap!
Jack
So is it as much fun to drive as you remembered?

Thanks for the info. It's a good thing I didn't try to remove the tag since it is a casting (I thought about taking it off to clean the paint off).
Jack
This may have been discussed here before but my search of the archive didn't turn up much. My intake manifold has a small tag mounted just behind the distributer and it is held on by two small screws. The tag is "5A8" which I assume means January 8, 1965. Is this the date the manifold was completed or when it was attached to the engine (the engine assembly date stamped on the engine is 1/14)?
Jack
Does anyone know this kar? I womder why the engine is painted blue rather than black and does the distributer look correct? I know ther are many other mods but the seller says it is an original drive train. Also, what is the hookup for the heater hoses? They appear to come off the side of the radiator or somewhere in that direction.
Jack
Mark,
I do not suggest you try to shoot the critter while you are driving. However, if you do kill it just think of how sporty you would look driving around in a genuine coon skin hat!
Good luck!
Jack
I am running a reproduction unit that came on the Kar when I bought it and it works fine.
Jack
The Kar looks really good! It looks like agreat day and everything sounds good, except that "warm beer" part.
Jack
Murf,
What Gabriel's did you use and do you like the ride on them?
Jack

Very informative, thanks!
Jack
Fred, thanks for the clarification. So, since Mark's kar is a GT it should have the low profile without the 6 on the clock.
Not to steal this thread, but I have noticed that some rally pac tac's have "FORD" and some have "MUSTANG" printed on the face. Is this a factory change and which is correct for a 65? Mine has "FORD" at the top.
