Agree with the other 2 posters. This is a very bad idea and not something that adds real value to the hobby. It is sometimes hard to spot "fake" cars now and this will make it even harder.

I can't tell form the pic, is this carb set up for a manual choke?

Welcome to the forum and good to have a former Ford engineer.
Jack
Greg,
Your car is in the timeframe that the Arvinode exhaust system was used. If you do a search on Arvinode Exhaust you will find a lot of research information about it and about the development of a replacement system from Waldron Antique Exhaust that was put on the market not too long ago. I have the system on my Koupe and am very happy with the sound. They offer a concourse and a standard system.

"The engine assembly date could can also be after the car's door tag date code. The latter is a scheduled date and cars could easily miss the scheduled date."
I saw that with my car as well. My engine assembly date was 5A14 but the car's scheduled build date was 11A per the door tag.
Jack
My block (has the VIN stamp) casting date is 5A5 and the assembly date on the engine is 5A14 and the head dates are 4M14 which are all fairly close.
Jack
You can do a VIN search on the registry main page and if it is in then you can email Marv to get your message to the current owner. Hope it is my car!!!
Jack
GregM,
Great looking restoration. I have the same rally pac and need to get it restored. Would you mind sharing what the restoration cost?
Thanks
Jack
Thanks for the replies.

Picked up my car form the engine rebuilder lastnight and he recommends Brad Penn motor oil. Is anyone running that and what is your experience with it?
Jack
The VIN is actually 160242 and not 140242 as listed in the ad. It is listed in the registry with last known location as Indiana.
In addition to items listed above, the fan spacer looks too long for a 65 but good overall.

I just picked up my Koupe this evening after an engine rebuild and I went with the old style comp cam and I think I am going to be very happy. It still idles smooth and sounds right. The weather here is frightful so I can not getany more miles on it for awhile.

There are original drivetrain Koups out there and one will turn up. I just found mine about 18 months ago - so just keep looking. If I hear of any I will let you know.

My heads have a casting date of 4M17; my block has a casting date of 5A5; and the engine assembly date is stamped 5A14. Are these dates what you might expect to have on a 65 Dearborn Kar with a scheduled build date of A11?

I just talked to the machine shop and the balancer cleaned up fine and is very usable and he has spun it with the polished crank and all is well. The new pistons are in along with the new valves. The valve seats have been replace with hardened seats and they are doing some final honing on the block to match the pistons so it should be ready to reassemble by next week.
No interest for me - I am very happy with my Arvinode system from Waldron.

I think it all depends on what class you are in. If you are in either of the concours classes (trailored or driven) then it could be a deduction if the judge catches it. If you are in the driven (daily or occasional) class then it would not be a deduction.
Jack
Thanks for the info Bob, I appreciate it. My engine is in the boring machine today and they hope to get the pistons installed tomorrow and get everything connected and spin it to see how it will balance out, so we should soon know if the balancer is still good. I reinspected it the other day and I think it is fine but time will tell.

Great looking Kar! I really like the color combination and would definately be talking to you if I were in the market for a new Kar. Good luck!
