I had stopped posting on this thread due to the direction it had taken. The photo I posted was to share information I have collected through the years, not to dispute anyone's claims, belittle or publicly embarrass. Now, that photo has been dissected ad-nauseum, implications made the car is NOT original (based merely on a piece of paper that NO ONE can read or identify!), and I have been called a "new" discoverer". Sorry, but I've owned, collected and restored Mustangs for over 30 years...all of which have been kept in stock, original form. I would hardly call myself a "new" discoverer"! I too was a Ford dealership mechanic and did PDI's. I HAVE seen stickers on brand new spares! I, however, have to provided at least 6 examples?! That's a pretty arrogant request. Of the two people I am familiar with on this thread, though I've never personally met them, I have ALWAYS respected them and their knowledge, stating so in public and private. It's a shame that this thread has deteriorated to this.

No sir, I respectfully beg to differ. This is what keeps new details hidden away!<img src=images/icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Rest assured, I will keep my mouth closed and information to myself in the future!

Hmmmm, I saved a number of photos that were taken of the car due to the condition they showed the car being in. The reason stated to justify the particular photo of the spare, IIRC, was an accompanying claim that the spare had "never been on the ground". I really don't know how it could be further verified. If images had been available of the various sidewall markings which showed a correct production period, it could just as easily be disputed that it was just made in the same time frame, but was not original to the car.

Just posting what I had. Take it for what ever it's worth!<img src=images/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

<b>The last two show the front hanger reinforcing plate that was used on all dual exhaust cars, GT and non-GT</b>: the images are a 65 K code with the dual exhaust floor reinforcing plate compared to a 65 C code wihtout dual exhaust reinforcement.

Great information, but a little correction to add. Unless I'm reading it wrong, you stated ALL dual exhaust cars had the floor reinforcing plate. While some or most may have, not all received them. Included below is a picture of the rear floor of my '66 GT fastback (a true GT that is fully documented through the build sheet, buck tag and radiator support markings). The car had a scheduled build date of 10/28/65 at Metuchen. The rear pans are unmolested. You'll notice no additional reinforcing pan is present (the other side is identical).

I found an interesting little detail today while getting the rear end housing ready to remove from my '66 coupe. The axle rubber vent tube is original, with the factory installed crimped clamp still in place. The house is in surprisingly great shape. Recalling several recent topics discussing the various ribbed rubber tubing applications, I noticed the vent tube is also ribbed! Just thought I'd pass the info along!

I know, I know... Had a bit of a lull there in July. 2 vacations, MCA national show here in Raleigh. I've been getting back on it though. Will have some new posts this week.

    Sorry to keep you hanging! <img src=images/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

I kinda figured the show had a good bit of your time occupied. Two vacations?!! Lucky you!!!<img src=images/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

BTW, unfortunately I haven't located a plater yet that will do small lots of galvanized (in reference to your floor drain plates). I'm still looking though!

RPM & ALL, CALL TRIM PARTS!!!!! Their carper is FAR FAR SUPERIOR over ACC!!! Nate tells me that the heel & toe pads are even sewed in like the original carpet, not glued in like ACC, I'll bet they have and can do the unique 64.5 carpet set as well as the later style we used in my Kar!!!!

Checking their website, they do have a specific listing for 64 1/2. As suggested, give'm a call!

Hi all! I've finally registered after lurking for about a year. From the posts I've followed over that time, I seen a LOT of great info sharing. I don't have a K....yet. But I've been keeping my eyes open over the years for my chance to obtain one. I currently own a '66 Mustang coupe that's getting a 5.0 EFI, and a stock '66 (true factory) GT Fastback. I hope to be able to add and help out at least as much as I've gained during my lurking time!<img src=images/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
