I just found something online stating that the HEH-P is a wide ratio box. Depending on price, location, etc, I might be interested in buying an HEH-BX close ratio and replacing the P model. How difficult is it to find one and how much would I expect to have to pay?
-
They look OK, but truthfully, I'm not sure what to look for.
-
My left side exhaust manifold rubs up against the side of the engine compartment and the space between the exhaust and clutch linkage is very minimal. Does anyone have this problem?
-
I don't want to replace it because it works well. Anyone know how to tell if it's a close ration?

Tony's book doesn't list a HEH-BT at all.
-
Acording to Tony's book, my 65 should have a HEH-BX TopLoader, whereas my tag shows a HEH-P, 020021. What does that mean?

Looks like the car did not sell. I assume bid did not reach the reserve.

I've tried to update my car in registry and it doesn't work. I meant to place this message under PM and email, not a new topic.

Great idea Ralph. Thanks!

Makes good sense.

Thanks Fred.

I recently removed my plugs before a valve adjustment, but could not remove the plug from cylinder #3 because there was not enough clearance between the exhaust manifold and plug. I'm not sure even the thinnest wall plug wrench would fit. I'm thinking about loosening all of the exhaust mainifold bolts and hoping I could slide it rearward about 1/16" to clear the opening, but don't want to go through that if there is an easier way. Anyone else ever expereince this?

Wouldn't the ex Nelson car have an aftermaket or dealer installed AC? If so, wouldn't that hurt the value?

A 66 K code coupe, sold yesterday for 36k, including buyer fees. According to the brief description and pictures, it appeared to be a nice restoration, non GT and non Pony package. A K code convertible runs through today. You can check their website, barrett-jackson.com and see all the prices prices after the fact.

I was just curious. In watching Barrett Jackson and the other TV auctions, I've seen most other model and engine combinations go through, but not sure I've ever seen a K code of any description go through.

I must have misread it. I have an owners manual too and it's not VIN specific either, although the inside front cover does have boxes for the dealer to fill out owner and vehicle info.
-
What sort of handbook is it? I have an owner's manual supplement,"High Performance Equipment", that is for 289 HiPo, 427 and 428 cars, but it is not VIN specific.

In the world of classic Mustangs, how rare are K code cars compared to other categories of Mustangs, ie Boss 302's, Boss 429's, Mach 1 big blocks, Shelby's, etc?
I would guess Boss 429's are the rarest, followed by either Boss 302's or Shelby GT 350's? In a ranking of all the types, just wondering where K codes fit in.

I changed oil using 10w30 Ford oil that has small amount of synthetic. Didn't make any difference. Changed it again, this time with Castrol GTX 10w40. Seems better, but still a bit of tapping noise. I thought I'd drive it a few miles over holiday and see if it makes any difference.
