I'm getting ready to post some pictures of it, I have some pictures of the engine bay before it was cleaned up and after that I have to scan in. Some items may be considered as incorrect but since its the way it was when new they've been left alone. The engine bay was used an example of a Hipo in a Mustang Monthly article after it was cleaned up.

the photos were taken around 1986 for a feature on the car that never ran and must be in the archives.

I also have pictures of the engine and internals when it was removed to replace the original clutch and timing chain @ 113,000 miles.

Its most likely a Ford GT40 302 Block, check out this link and look at specs.

"The engine is from Ford Advanced Vehicles, Slough, Buckinghamshire, England with engine block Casting No. XE-136505 (the 'X' stands for experimental and prepared for the racing car program, while the 'E' is for Engine Division.) The engine has been stroked to three inches with a forged steel, Tufftrided, cross drilled crank to make it a full five litres. The crank is supported with 4-bolt main caps. The 4-bolt main Ford castings were first available in May 1967 according to Stewart Mathesion. Forgetrue forged pistons are held with Carillo Billet steel connecting rods. A Shelby Race Cobra, camshaft kit, Part No. SICR-6250, duration of 289 degrees, intake and exhaust with 69 degrees overlap and .500 inch lift on both valves is installed. Competition, titanium intake valves of 2.03" diameter and hollow stem sodium cooled exhaust valves of 1.62 inches are installed in the Gurney-Weslake Mark IV aluminium heads (later known as Gurney-Eagle heads). It was now fitted with four dual throat 48IDA Weber carbs. This engine produces 453 BHP, at 6000 RPM"

Pace cars are so rare its hard to put a value on them. My first Mustang was a clapped out Pace Car, didn't know it till later. Was a running joke in my local club that she was a Pace Car because of her color combo. Turns out later she really was. Sold it for 1,000 in 1986, at that time only 8 had been found and it was so rare nobody knew what to do with them. Been trying to find it lately just for curiosity sake (vin 5F07F112870), could not afford to buy it back now. Definatly very rare, but not very exciting like my Dad's K code I have now!

Tell me about it. Tire Rack seem to be the only one with a performance based whitewall in the 205/70/14 size. Shes allready got off brand tires on it that are terrible "190 tread wear B traction c temp" Was all my Dad could find at the time. Would love redlines but there're not in the budget right now. Like the white letters, especially on 69-73 Mustangs but I think the whitewalls are more period for this car.

Unrestored White on red 66 K koupe. Currently has old (read dry rotted)cheap, all season 195/75/14 WW radials on SS wheels. Want to keep the SS wheels but go up to a touring/performance tire maybe 205/70/14 or 215/70/14 size. Hard to find WW in these sizes, how do you think blackwalls would look? Do you think 215/70/14 is too big for the stock rims? Any comments or personal opinions welcome, still trying to make up my mind.

Yes, once I get her settled in I plan to put up some pictures, I also have some pictures of her when new. Have all the original paperwork and the original package and paperwork for the neat mechanical secondary kit for the 4100 (really makes her jump!).

She was delivered without the SS trim rings and it wasn't till the 80's and joined the MCA that we realized they were missing. My Dad would always paint the wheel weights to match the black rim after every tire change.

I'll post some more pictures soon, she's in the registry 236783. I have to update that too. In '84 she returned to the Metuchen plant for the 20th celebration, Ford gave us a tour of the plant (making Escorts then)and had a nice show out front. I have many (30+)Mustangs over the years, my daily driver is a 91 LX 5.0 Notch. My first car and first Mustang was a 64.5 Pace Car (unknown to me when I bought it) her VIN was 5F07F112870, I'm trying to find out if she's still around but its not looking good.

    Thanks.

Since I was 5 years old I've wanted this car and now she's mine. My Dad was the original owner, special ordered her in New Jersey on March 1966. Now she's been handed down to me and lives in Texas. Still mostly in original condition, we took her partially apart in the early 80's for some maintenance, cleaning and minor rust repair. Still runs like a top never been rebuilt (117,500 miles), only non stock item is a period mechanical secondary kit that has been on the car since almost new. Shes showing her age a little bit now, but is still very presentable. Plans are to keep preserving her and driving her. Here are some pictures.
