I'm assuming the connecting rods are the limitation on revs. So, what kind of rev limit is feasible for a hipo as long as the rods check out OK and of course everthing else is fine also. This is for an engine that will see track time and I don't want to blow it up.

    Thanks,

    Bob

The yellow ones are C3AE and the others are C3AE-D. So, I guess I was right the first time. They are all at the machine shop at the moment so I can't look at the top of the rod bolts. See, I told you I didn't know what I was doing <img src=images/icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

    Hello,

I'm new here so don't ridicule me too much. I just acquired a HiPo 289 to use in a Sunbeam Tiger I'm restoring. Now I'm thinking the engine may be more valuable to someone with a K code Mustang.

The story goes that the engine was built by a gentleman named Skip Miller who drag raced it in a Ford Falcon. Shortly after he built it, he bent the frame of the Falcon and took the engine out.

It's not complete. I discovered the main caps are not HiPo and the block may not be either (C5AE-6015E 4L7). The crank is still original dimensions (verified at the machine shop I took it to). It has the little counter weight, HiPo dampner, and timing chain. The rods are 6 HiPo and 2 Boss 302. The heads have been ported and have 351W size valves. It has a Sig Erson cam and solid lifters. The pistons are TRW 2249 high compression (12:1 I believe).

Anyway, what I really am looking for is a 289 that can rev at least to 6500 and make 300+ HP on pump gas. If anyone has a fresh longblock to trade or wants to make me an offer I am open.

    Thanks,

Bob (bobdixon at frii dot com)
