  • Zooming in on the VIN in picture #19 looks like maybe ***9A212048

Same image shows a 20 cast in the drivers head.

    Definitely recommend an inspection.

I separated that Ebay picture from the ad into a separate tab. Then I blew it up more and looked at it with a magnifying glass. That was not as much help as I had hoped but what initially appears to be an A, may actually be a K as they can be fairly similar. This is where a prepuchase inspection is a must. I agree with the 20 on the left head. It appears to have a 65 timing cover setup with an aluminum water pump. I am unable to see any characters for the assembly date stamp at the front of the head on the block. Of course, it has the wrong fuel pump and a single point distributor modified with the Ford cover plate where the vacuum advance mounts. The coil is mounted 65 style on an aftermarket aluminum intake. It has an AFB style carburetor, which could be an Edelbrock, as they are pretty much the same. It looks strange without chrome rocker covers as that would be, at least, a day 2 update for a lot of engines. The black oil cap is in the same situation. The radiator is obvious along with the headers. It is too bad that we cannot see the fan. The engine mounts appear to be solid brackets on both sides. It has a Shelby one inch sway bar, not a bad thing. The heater core has been bypassed with a hose rather than rubber caps. I do not see any heater contols inside of the car along with a radio cover plate. Maybe this was a heater delete car as I do not see a heater motor or wires in the engine compartment. Based on the flatter angle of the lower control arms, it is likely that the upper control arms were lowered to the Shelby specs. If those shocks are Konis, that is not a bad upgrade. I am sure there a lot more issues but I am typed out for the day. The problem for me is that all of these changes degrade the car from "collector condition" as advertised.

  • I tried zooming in and adjusting the VIN image on an iPad tonight and now leaning more toward it being a K and not an A. You can get a peak at the tip of a fan blade in a couple pictures and the profile doesn't look correct.

It's located in Andover MA. I might be up there in early December and if possible will try to inspect it for a friend in the market.
