I have been gathering NOS parts to refresh my K code engine, its been a while but its now complete. The dyno runs were completed this week, we did have a little issue with the carburetor as secondaries were no opening all the way none of us were Autolite experts so we had to continue with what we had. The refresh was done using New Old Stock and orginal parts except the cam and lifters (came from Howards and as close to orginal as we could find for a flat tappet mechanical cam). We were using the Autolite C40F-AL Carbuator . The final timing was 12 degrees initial and 32 total advance. The results were 294 hp @6000 RPM and 301 lbs torque @ 4000 RPM. These are NET results not GROSS as we had water pump and all pullies and alternator hooked up. We used all NOS internal engine bolts. Crank was not turned, engine was balanced, The engine is stock no modifications done to heads or block or carbuator. Plugs were Autolite 45, fuel was 92 unleaded octane.
Not sure people are interested but here is the dyno sheet. We did not take it past 6000 RPM as we saw the HP and Torque werre falling off.
The engine was built with tight tolerance, no issues other than the acting up carb, we checked the filter and lifters after and nothing in filter and lifters were still dead on gap
